New Zealand's beauty and the country's hospitable "Kiwis" have stolen my heart hence my focus on sharing golfing and touring news in this dream destination. “Conde Nast” top award to New Zealand’s Kauri Cliffs Lodge

Condé Nast Traveler, USA has named The Lodge at Kauri Cliffs as the No. 1 Lodge in Australia and Pacific Nations on the 2012 Gold List: The World’s Best Places to Stay.  It’s the only property in New Zealand to make the list and with a whopping score of 98.4, that’s special!

Located in New Zealand’s Northland with magnificent views of Matauri Bay guests “feel like royalty” at this plantation-style lodge that collects a bevy of perfect scores in the competition. Mixing Greek revival and a South Carolina plantation house with an East Hampton summer cottage, the perfect-scoring design mixes blues and blonds with dark-oak English and European antiques.

“Beautiful rooms,” done in light colors with a country feel, garner a perfect score. Sip on a Kauri Cliffs Kiwi Mojito before indulging in the “divine cuisine” at the blue-and-white main dining room The staff deliver perfect-scoring service.

“They made us feel like we were the only guests they had to take care of the whole time we were there.”

Managing Director Jay Robertson says, “We are so honored to be recognized by Conde Nast Traveler and the readers again – the excellence of our team is undoubtedly the essence of what makes this award possible.”

Perfect-scoring activities for Conde Nast award include “one of the prettiest golf courses in the world.”

Hosted by Paul Reid, the Head Golf Professional’s with his team of Jeff and Brian, my husband Geoff and I enjoyed a visit to this beautiful location during our Rugby World Cup 2011 tour. Views from all fairways and greens are stunning. Combined with challenging roughs this is a course to be played more than once to bring one’s score down. No matter, it is the experience that counts when visiting awesome Kauri Cliffs.
