Mountain Scene Queenstown reports Kiwi celebrity chef Josh Emett is cooking up two $225-a-head dinners at The Hills golf course Clubhouse restaurant near Arrowtown. The Waikato-raised Michelin chef … will present six-course dinners on the first two nights of the NZ PGA Pro-Am golf tournament on March 29 and 30.
His business partner in the local restaurant Fleur Caulton – who opened Lake Hayes’ popular Amisfield bistro – introduced Emett to The Hills’ owner, mega-jeweller Sir Michael Hill.“It was great to meet Michael as someone who I had grown up watching – he has been hugely successful and I’d heard so much about him.”

The respect cuts both ways.

Hill says Emett has “a huge reputation”.

“A lot of these chefs can become quite prima donna-ish but he’s definitely not like that at all – he’s down to earth, very open, genuine.”

Emett says his menu will include canapes, kingfish, local rabbit, King Salmon with butternut squash, beef fillet and cheek, and greengages.

Dining numbers each night are limited to 70.

Asked about his golf, Emett says: “It might not be too bad if had time to play, so I usually stick to tennis”.
